Introduction to USEFUL INFORMATION about Australia

Australia has been an island continent for about 50 million years and was isolated from the rest of the world until little more than 200 years ago. A unique fauna and flora, unspoiled beaches and breathtaking wilderness areas now coexist with excitingly modern, cosmopolitan cites. In 1901 the six colonies within Australia joined forces to become a federation (the Commonwealth of Australia).
